I find the laser psychologically more accepting for the patient than the electrosurge (no ground plate, like you are going to electrocute them). Also, trimming tissue around implants is not a concern with the laser.

I was reluctant to move to use of laser in restorative dentistry, I now use it exclusively for tissue retraction. Use of a laser in hygiene has improved our treatment results and increased hygiene production (more than offsets the initial cost). I have 4 lasers, one for each operatory.
